Kamola Interview

Kamola, since 2009, London by Kamola Malikova

1) How did you had the idea to design dresses? What made you want to design dresses?

The motivation was to find a niche on the market, and mine was the body con dresses. I have offered the selection of dresses made from natural luxurious fabrics, such as silk, velvet and lace, while other brands only specialized in spandex. I have also introduced a concept of chic, yet sensual dresses for women who are proud of figures yet want to look classy enough to attend a cocktail event.

2) What is the thing that passionates you the most of this job?

Setting new trends, shaping the fashion identity, influencing people, and most importantly working/studying  next to some very talented people. And most importantly what I do makes me very happy and keeps me going forever like no other job would do.

3) In a few words define your creations.

The 1st Collection celebrated the success and freedom of the woman, particularly concentrated towards regal Cocktail Dresses, Evening and Formal wear. The collection explores and plays with femininity through the epochs of Film Noir and resonance from Art movements such as Romanticism and Classicism.  The collection can be described as Classic Luxe with subtle elements of boudoir through the use of spectral hues and rich fabrics such as Velvet, Silk, Lace, Satins and Silk Wool.

4) What type of woman wears your creations?

The collection was designed with the young lady in mind unlike other designers solely concentrating on a more senior demographic, Cult following successful TV programmes such as ‘Sex in the City’ and Gossip girl have breaded a new younger audience who stay elegantly clad and sought quality wardrobe ensembles and where their lifestyles consist of partying, dinning and jet set style travelling where attire exclusivity among other aspects are considered highly important.

5) The little black dress in few words...

A legend, a story, a piece that will turn head of passers by without revealing too much, and still keeping your elegant identity.

6) How do you wear the little black dress?

Always with high heels, a dab of Chanel perfume and a red lipstick. Like Mademoiselle Coco would do.
